Ingredients
- 1 can (28 ounces) cushed tomatoes
- 3 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
- 3 to 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon each mint, oregano, basil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup red wine
- 7 tomato paste cans full of water
Method
Step 1
Brown garlic in oil in a large pot. If adding meat to the sauce, cook it along with the garlic and drain if necessary.
Step 2
Add paste and water. Add tomatoes. Then add spices, wine and sugar. Mix well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1-1/2 hours until thick.
