Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk plus more for brushing
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Method

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture, alternately with milk. Add vanilla and raisins. Roll out on well floured board to about 1/8-in. thickness. Cut in rounds with cookie cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and brush with milk. Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.
