Ingredients

  • 1 box (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar
  • 2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped fine in blender
  • 12 ounces creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 pound melted butter or margarine
  • 1/2 block paraffin wax
  • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips

Method

Step 1

Mix the first 5 ingredients and roll into small (about 1-in.) balls. In a double boiler, melt the wax and chocolate together. Use two forks to dip the balls into the chocolate mixture. Place on waxed paper to set.

Step 2

Note: If you're not keen on the idea of adding wax to your food, you can either substitute 3 tablespoons of shortening (like Crisco), or just buy chocolate candy coating, which honestly probably already has wax in it. If you want to use the wax, don't worry, it's edible, and probably in half the candy you eat anyway. It's usually with the canning supplies and is called paraffin wax or baking wax.
