Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 48 chocolate candy kisses
  • sugar for rolling

Method

Step 1

Combine all ingredients except candy kisses. Shape into 1-in. balls using a rounded teaspoon for each. Roll balls in additional sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven. top each cookie immediately with a candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edges.
