Ingredients
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 6 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon water
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup chocolate bits
Method
Step 1
Cream together shortening, both sugars, vanilla and water. Beat in egg. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Mix into sugar mixture. Stir in oatmeal and chopped nuts. Batter will be stiff, like cookie dough.
Step 2
Spread batter in a greased 13x9-in. pan. Sprinkle chocolate bits over batter.
Step 3
Preheat oven to 375°. Place pan in oven for 1 minute. Remove and run knife through batter to marbleize chocolate. Return to oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes. Cool before cutting.
