Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery, chopped
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8-12 slices toast, depending on the size of your baking dish and how big the bread is, buttered on both sides
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method

Step 1

Brown beef in a skillet with mustard, onion, celery and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Drain. Place half of toast in a casserole dish. Top with hamburger mixture, then cheese. Place remaining toast on top.

Step 2

Mix milk, dry mustard, 1/4 teaspoon salt and egg. Pour over toast Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Slice into sandwiches or smaller serving portions as desired.
