Ingredients (cake)
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
Ingredients (topping)
- 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
Method
Step 1
Make the topping first. Mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir in butter and dates and mix well. Set aside.
Step 2
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into the creamed mixture, blending well. Spoon half the mixture into a well greased angel food pan. Sprinkle on half the topping. Repeat. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes.
