Ingredients

  • 8 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  • 2 cups chopped dates
  • 2/3 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • additional apple slices, optional

Method

Step 1

Combine apples and dates in an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. In a bowl combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add nuts. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 375° for 35 to 40 minutes until apples are tender. Serve warm. garnish with apple slices if desired.
