Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 to 4-½ cups flour
  • 1-½ cups sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 teaspoons anise extract
  • Nonpareils

Ingredients (frosting)

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon anise extract

1-2 tablespoons milk

Method

Step 1

Beat together eggs and oil. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add orange juice, vanilla and anise.

Step 2

Mix together 4 cups flour and baking powder. Gradually add to wet mixture and beat until dough is soft and can be rolled in your hands. If it's too sticky gradually add more flour.

Step 3

Roll into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheet.

Step 4

Bake at 400° for 5 to 7 minutes, until slightly brown on bottom.

Step 5

Mix frosting ingredients until smooth but thick. Dunk tops of cookies in frosting while still slightly warm and set on wax paper. Do in batches of about 4 and immediately sprinkle with nonpareils before the frosting dries.

Step 6

Sweep up the nonpareils that bounced all over your house.
