Ingredients
- 1 tub (6 ounces) strawberry cream cheese
- 1 large egg, separated
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
Method
Step 1
Mix cream cheese, egg yolk and 1/4 cup sugar until blended. In a small bowl slightly beat egg white.
Step 2
Place puff pastry in center of baking sheet and unfold. Roll out to a 12-in. rectangle. Spoon cheese filling in 2-1/2-in. wide strip down center.
Step 3
On both sides of filling cut 1-in. strips from filling to edge. Fold strips at an angle across filling, overlapping and alternating from side to side. Brush with egg white. Sprinkle with remaining sugar.
Step 4
Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes until puffed and golden. Sprinkle with almonds. Cool slightly on sheet. Serve warm or at room temperature.
