Ingredients
- 3 slices of bacon or 1 cup cooked ham or a meaty ham bone
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- black pepper
- 1 cup dried lentils, rinsed, or use half lentils half pearled barley
- 8 cups water or chicken broth
- 2 chicken bouillon cubes (if using water)
Method
Step 1
Saute bacon or ham with onion, carrots and celery until tender. Transfer to crock pot. Add remaining ingredients. Cook on low 6-8 hours.
